Nikon in my opinion if one of the best DSLR camera out there. I shoot with the Nikon D40x, and absolutely love it!! My dad uses the D300, but may be a little advanced since you are a beginner. Unfortunately, they don’t sell them (D40x) anymore, but you could buy it off ebay or something like that.

    1. If you want a camera cheap, i suggest ebay or craigslist. There you can find great used or new cameras cheaper than buying them from the store. Just make sure they do not have any damage to them.

    2. I would recommend a D60 since you are a beginner. It is a good solid camera that is beginner friendly. (The D60 i just like the D40x, not D40). So i suggest that you try your cousin’s D40x, then if you like it, get the D60 since the are they same.

    The D60 is $537 off of amazon.com

    3. The D90 is a good camera and it is about $937 (body only, no lens).

But i think the D60 would be the best for you. Also, don’t be cheap on the lens. The lens is just as important as the camera itself.

Just don’t get a cheap camera you won’t be happy with. Is it worth spending $200 on a cheap camera, then spending $500 on a camera you actually are happy with that is better quality? $200 wasted. With cameras, you get what you pay for.

    Hi,

If you want a D60, which is a decent entry level model, there are several on ebay, the link below is for a Nikon refurbished model with a very full set of lenses and bits. The company seems also open to offers to build your own kit – interesting. I have no experience of the seller, but feedback is positive on nearly 1,000 transactions. Give them a call.

It looks like c$500 will get you a good start.

    Cheers
    Charles
